With the upcoming untargeted advertising ban looming on 1 July, René Jansen has released a statement regarding the legislation.

As the Chair of the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), Jansen began the speech by acknowledging the fact many have begun to speculate on ‘surviving the Dutch regulated market.’

He explains that the ban on untargeted advertising was in response to the growing number of licensed operators granted to operate in the Dutch markets and understandably wanted to advertise to the Dutch audience.

Jansen explains: “Operators offering online as well as land-based gambling may continue untargeted advertising for their land-based offer.

“However, their advertising for these must explicitly be sufficiently different from their advertising for online gambling.”

Despite there being no clear guidance on the ban restrictions so far, Jansen continued by saying that the KSA will only be able to release a limited amount.

This is due to the fact the ban will be a “new and unchartered area” for the KSA, so the board expects to navigate the new rules alongside operators.

Later, Jansen stresses that it is up to the operators to find the balance in advertising themselves, without putting the burden entirely on the KSA.

Jansen states: “My most important appeal at this point in time: find a way,Online Casino Games for Real Money but don't seek the boundaries.

“Public confidence in the gambling industry is low and fragile.

“Operators, therefore, have to show that they are committed to a fair and safe market with player protection as the important standard.”

In other recent news, KSA released a legislative letter and fined Bingoal €400,000 ($428,000).
